INTERNATIONAL ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM

About the Program

LiberArte’s International Artist-in-Residence is a co-created, place-based exchange for artists leading cultural transformation at the intersection of climate, racial, and social justice. Our residencies are designed in deep collaboration with each artist, based on your needs, vision, and community.

We don’t offer a pre-set format. Instead, we work with you to shape a residency that supports your creative leadership and amplifies your impact—whether through storytelling, performance, ritual, media, or community-based projects.

As a resident artist, LiberArte may support you with:

  • Producing a U.S. tour or cultural exchange
  • Supporting a festival or artistic project in your home region
  • Grant writing, fundraising, or visibility support
  • Media, branding, and documentation resources
  • Building your cultural and professional network
  • Engaging in ancestral and community-rooted practices of healing and liberation

This is a space to build artistic infrastructure together—toward abundant, just futures in harmony with each other and Mother Earth.

Past Artist-in-Residence: Tambacum (2023–2025)

Tambacum is an Afro-Colombian music group from Nuquí, Chocó—one of the most biodiverse yet under-resourced regions of Colombia. With LiberArte, they co-created a residency that included:

  • Reviving a local festival in Nuquí
  • Building a brand presence with new photos and promo materials
  • Coordinating and funding their first U.S. tour across multiple cities
  • Connecting with global audiences and performing at the U.N.'s COP16 on biodiversity

Tambacum’s journey exemplifies the ripple effect when artists are resourced as storytellers, educators, and stewards of cultural and ecological memory.

Who Should Apply

We’re looking for international artists who:

  • Are committed to cultural preservation, climate justice, healing, and systemic transformation—aligned with LiberArte’s mission to use the arts as a vehicle for environmental, racial, and social justice
  • Are deeply connected to their local communities, cultural traditions, or ancestral lineages, and use their practice to restore relationships between people and the Earth
  • Want to co-create something rooted, bold, and reciprocal—shaped collaboratively with LiberArte through shared visioning and place-based engagement
  • Are open to sharing their work in the U.S. and/or hosting LiberArte in their home region as part of an exchange rooted in connection, storytelling, and climate-conscious cultural work

📩 Please note: We may not be able to respond to every submission. We are also actively seeking recommendations from trusted collaborators and our global network. If there’s alignment, we’ll reach out as opportunities arise.
